Chapel Hill-based Participate Learning is passionate about providing equitable and inclusive access to education for all. As leaders in global education for over 30 years, the company is committed to empowering and supporting educators to expand opportunities for their students. Their common goal to unite our world through global education and their educational expertise puts them in the unique position to offer a free, virtual community of practice for all teachers from around the globe starting March 18th with their sister company, Participate, Inc.

With COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) affecting schools, students, and staff worldwide, many educators are transitioning to virtual learning opportunities for their students for the first time in their teaching careers. Participate Learning’s goal with the United We Teach Community of Practice is to offer a gathering place to support one another, to access ideas and information, to share best practices for teaching online, and to provide forums where educators can communicate and interact with each other. This community of practice will include:

Curated free resources: The United We Teach Community of Practice will serve as a repository of a variety of teaching resources including tips for bringing face-to-face teaching to an online experience, staying in touch with parents, maintaining connections with students during distance education, and free resources to support students in online learning.

Discussion forums: The discussion forums are intended to provide a space for collaboration with other educators around the world by sharing personal classroom resources and best practices for teaching online. These forums also give teachers the opportunity to explore new resources posted by others that they can then implement into their own virtual classrooms.

Live chat opportunities: Along with the discussion forums, there will also be live chat opportunities offered where educational experts and fellow teachers can connect in real-time and offer advice, ask questions, and troubleshoot problems.

By offering this virtual resource to educators worldwide, Participate Learning hopes to relieve stress during this challenging time, support teachers in creating engaging learning environments from home, and introduce many to the benefits of virtual learning opportunities. The United We Teach Community of Practice is free and open to all and can be joined here.
